Tracking hazy skies today and summer heat this weekend

TODAY: Sunny with a light haze from wildfire smoke in the upper atmosphere. Temperatures cross into the 80s, and air quality remains healthy at the ground.

TOMORROW: Mostly sunny with hazy skies and temperatures warming to the mid to upper 80s.

EXTENDED: Dry and hot weather persists through Monday and very early Tuesday before a cold front tracks into the area from the west. A wave tracking along this front may enhance the chance for storms during the day on Tuesday, possibly leading to an isolated strong storm in Mid-MO. This potential will need to be monitored in the coming days, but strong storms are expected to be limited. The front stalls over the region later in the week and could contribute to several more rounds of showers through next weekend.
