Tracking rain and snow chances to start the weekend

TODAY: Cloudy and cold with temperatures starting out in the mid-30s, climbing near average to the low 40s. Rain chances increase in the afternoon as a cold front tracks in from the northwest; rain switches briefly to a wintry mix by sundown and then to snow in the evening. Accumulations and impacts will be light, with a possible half-inch for most and up to an inch of snow in eastern MO.

TOMORROW: Slick roads are possible early Sunday as temperatures drop to the upper teens in the morning. Clouds linger through the first half of the day and highs will only be a few degrees above morning lows. Winds from the north will also be gusty up to 30 mph.

EXTENDED: The next round of snow could begin as early as Monday afternoon, but the best snow chances of the forecast move in on Tuesday. This snow is mostly trending across southern MO but much of the area may see traffic impacts Tuesday into Wednesday. Dangerous cold settles in late week with highs in the single digits and low temperatures below zero from Tuesday through Friday morning.
