Tracking a warm afternoon before rain tonight
THIS AFTERNOON: Very mild with highs in the 50s areawide. Winds from the south will be sustained around 10-20 mph and may gust to 30 mph at times. This will bring warmth, and also moisture.
TONIGHT: A cold front approaches this evening with light showers first possible by sunset in southern Missouri. Showers fill in across the southeastern half of the area through midnight, and rain exits for most before sunrise.
EXTENDED: Behind the cold front, temperatures remain below freezing Saturday with highs in the 20s. As temperatures continue to drop, Sunday through Tuesday are ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days for the threat of dangerous cold. We will have sunshine each day, but highs only reach into the teens, and lows near zero on Sunday and Monday night. Later next week will see temperatures improve again ahead of a weather system.
