Tracking more rain over the weekend ahead of a warmup

TODAY: Scattered showers and storms bring lightning and heavy downpours to some spots. Temperatures are hot but a few degrees below average in the mid to lower 80s.

TOMORROW: Rain chances drop on Sunday but isolated showers and storms are possible in the afternoon and evening. Highs will be a few degrees warmer with less rain and clouds but we're still shy of 90 areawide.

EXTENDED: Scattered storms may redevelop late Sunday night into Monday, which could impact another chance of storms Monday afternoon. The heat is expected to get worse for the workweek with the heat index well above 100 degrees from Tuesday through Thursday. Storms will stick around for some, but widespread relief is not expected.
