Tracking strong storms late morning to early afternoon

THIS MORNING: Storms have developed to our west and will track in by 7-9 AM In Columbia and northern MO, with a low risk of severe winds and hail. This activity is expected to fizzle out somewhat approaching later in the morning.

TODAY: Severe storms redevelop along a cold front from noon to 4 PM across southeastern Missouri toward I-44. These storms could bring large 2" hail, 60 mph winds, and possibly an isolated tornado. The severe threat will decrease by early evening as storms exit southeast. Rain totals will be in the 0.5" to 1" range.

EXTENDED: Behind the cold front it's a chilly Friday morning as temperatures drop into the 40s and only make the upper 50s to low 60s during the day. The weekend stays cooler as highs reach the upper 50s to around 60 through Sunday. We'll gradually warm up into next week, with rain chances returning by late Tuesday into Wednesday.
