Tracking a quiet Sunday ahead of a strong winter storm

TODAY: Clouds stick around for the end of the weekend but some sunshine is possible in between! Highs will climb to around 40 degrees today. Be sure to finish last-minute plans before an impactful winter storm this week.

TOMORROW: Monday is an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for the possibility of heavy snow and strong winds. Precipitation likely begins Monday afternoon as a cold rain, with temperatures several degrees above freezing through the day. As we cool into the overnight, rain switches to snow beginning in northern Missouri and slowly inching south. Areas north of I-70 are expected to see the most impacts and are already in a Winter Storm Watch from Monday morning until Tuesday afternoon.

EXTENDED: Tuesday is also a Weather Alert Day as the second half of this system brings the most widespread snowfall. A heavy band of snow will sweep across all of Mid-Missouri through Tuesday, adding on several inches to any accumulation from the night before. In total, areas in northern Missouri see the possibility for up to a half foot of snow or more; this drops sharply to around 1-2" near the I-44 corridor.
