Tracking brutal cold leading to a widespread freeze

TODAY: Sunday will be cloudy and wet again with rain chances picking up into the afternoon. With temperatures stuck in the 30s today some nonimpactful frozen precip may mix in with showers. Rain and clouds head east past sundown.

TOMORROW: A Freeze Warning is in effect areawide as temperatures plummet behind the weekend rain. Monday lows will be in the lower 20s with the wind chill reaching the teens. Temperatures only recover to around 40 degrees in the afternoon.

EXTENDED: The week ahead will be full of sunshine but below-average temperatures. Halloween will likely be the coldest day of the week with temperatures struggling to escape the 30s. By the time for Trick-or-Treating temperatures will be dropping to near or below freezing with the wind chill even lower. Lows into Wednesday will near the teens with the wind chill close to single digits for northern Mid-MO. We warm back up late week to the 50s and 60s by Friday, but this will be short-lived with a cold front on the way next weekend.
