Tracking drier conditions ahead of weekend showers and storms

TODAY: Sunshine returns most of Thursday with slightly warmer temperatures around 80 degrees. Isolated storms are possible this afternoon, but most will stay dry ahead of more rain into the weekend.

TOMORROW: Friday follows a similar trend starting off mostly dry but cloudier as a disturbance approaches. This will likely generate more scattered storms in the afternoon bringing heavy downpours and thunder.

EXTENDED: Saturday is warm ahead of a cold front with temperatures rising into the upper 70s to lower 80s. Instability grows along with increasing dew points, setting the stage for beneficial rain and perhaps even a few strong thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday morning. Rain amounts will be in the 1-2" range. Showers are expected to taper off by Sunday night or earlier, leaving us cooler to start off next week with highs in the low to mid-70s for the first half of the week.
