Tracking excessive heat lasting through midweek

Today: A Weather Alert Day remains in effect for high temperatures in the upper 90s and the heat index stretching from 105 to upwards of 115 this afternoon.

Tonight: Overnight conditions remain warm in the 70s with mugginess lingering.

Extended: A Weather Alert Day has been extended throughout Friday afternoon lasting until 8 PM as the heat index looks to surpass the triple-digit threshold once again Thursday and Friday afternoons. A cold front moves into the area late Friday leading to a significant cooldown this weekend with highs into the upper 80s Saturday and lower 80s Sunday into early portions of next week. A slight chance for spotty light showers exists during the day Sunday, but the forecast remains generally dry.
