Tracking a warmer and more humid weekend
TONIGHT: Mostly clear and pleasant with lows in the lower 60s.
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and warmer with highs in the mid-80s.
EXTENDED: Saturday looks to be the warmest day of the next week as we creep into the upper 80s. Dew points should be getting into the mid-60s, so we'll start feeling more humid to start the weekend. We'll reach the mid-80s Sunday with a chance of scattered afternoon storms as an area of low pressure to our southwest sends moisture in our direction. With this low in the vicinity into next week, we'll see rounds of showers and storms each day through mid-late week. The constant cloud cover will keep temperatures seasonable in the low 80s. The risk of severe weather appears low as we'll have plenty of energy for thunderstorms, but not nearly enough wind shear to get them to become strong or severe. The only day we could have an isolated stronger storm would be Wednesday where we have a bit more wind to work with. Rain amounts through Thursday will add up to 0.25" to 0.5", so flooding issues are not expected with rounds of rain and storms. Toward the end of the week, we'll be on the eastern edge of a deep high pressure ridge that will send temperatures into the 90s across the Plains. We could tap into that heat at some point next weekend, but it doesn't look as pronounced as it will be to our west. Expect highs to creep into the upper 80s to around 90 by late next weekend if this ridge holds.
