Tracking storms late tonight, waves of rain through this weekend
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with storms likely after 10PM. Some storms may bring heavy rain, isolated gusty winds up to 50 mph, and potentially isolated large hail up to 1" in diameter, especially along and north of I-70. Lows in the low 50s.
TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and storms during the day. Rain chances shift farther south through late afternoon and evening as the cold front slides across southern Missouri. Highs in the upper 50s.
EXTENDED: Another disturbance will ride up along this boundary on Friday, giving much of Mid-Missouri widespread rainfall through Friday night/early Saturday. Saturday will bring a lull in precipitation for the most part outside of a few scattered showers. The next strong low pressure system approaches on Sunday, bringing more heavy rainfall and a chance for a few thunderstorms early in the day. Lingering showers on the back side of the low are possible into early Monday. Temperatures from Friday into much of next week will be in the low 50s. Rain amounts from tonight through Monday will still be in the 2-4" range, with the higher end amounts in the southern half of the area. Flooding risk will remain somewhat marginal due to the spaced-out nature of the waves of rain, but localized flooding will be possible where we have thunderstorms pass over the same locations over the next several days. Next week looks cooler toward the end, with another shot at rain possible by Wednesday.
