WATCH: Columbia superintendent talks about return to learn

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Peter Stiepleman joined ABC 17 News to talk about the return to learn Wednesday morning.

CPS is using the 14-day rate of new cases per 10,000 residents in Columbia to determine what type of learning will occur when students return on Sept. 8.

If the rate is less than 10, the district will return to in-person learning. If the rate is in the range of 10 to less than 50, there will be a hybrid learning model. If the rate is 50 or more, the district will go completely virtual.

As of Wednesday morning, the rate of new cases per 10,000 for the last 14 days is 41.8. If the district returned to class tomorrow, it would operate under a hybrid learning model.
