Tracking overnight storms to bring widespread rain and wind

TONIGHT: Widespread rain and storms, some strong with isolated gusty winds and heavy rain. Lows in the upper 60s.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers and storms with highs in the lower 80s.

EXTENDED: As low level winds pick up late tonight, a cluster growing into a complex of storms is expected to develop across eastern Kansas and progress east into Mid-Missouri overnight. I am not expecting storms until after midnight, and the farther east they go, the more unsupportive the environment will be of severe storms. That said, there may be a few strong wind gusts after 1-2 AM especially west of Highway 63. Widespread rain is expected through the morning commute with localized flash flooding of 2-3" of rain possible in a few spots. Showers and storms become more scattered during the day, with the afternoon and evening severe threat focused near and south of the cold front across southern Missouri. A few storms may develop north of Highway 24 from late afternoon through about sunset Wednesday evening. The rest of the week is looking comfortable with highs in the low 80s behind the front on Thursday. Another cold front approaches on Friday and brings a chance for a few showers and storms between Friday night and Saturday morning. The weekend is looking pleasant with highs in the mid-80s, but we'll be watching for a few disturbances to bring isolated storm chances toward evening through early next week.
