Tracking lower rain chances and more heat

TODAY: Tuesday is hot and humid, with more sunshine than on Monday. Tuesday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for temperatures in the 90s that feel like 100-110 degrees. Mostly dry conditions are expected, with a few extra clouds and a sprinkle chance in the north this evening.

TONIGHT: Partly cloudy and dry skies are expected overnight, with a south wind and temperatures remaining warm. Lows are in the upper 70s early Wednesday.

EXTENDED: The upper-level high pressure that is acting as our heat dome will likely hold strong the rest of the week. This means it may keep us mostly shielded from waves in the jet stream that could otherwise bring rainfall and meaningful breaks from the heat. With that said, temperatures are climbing in the forecast, and rain chances are falling. We may need to extend our ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Days beyond Wednesday, as highs are projected in the 90s Wednesday through Sunday, with very little rain. We'll have a chance for some showers and weak storms on Wednesday, and again on Thursday. With only slim chances on Friday, drier weather returns Saturday. This allows for heat to build until a weak cold front returns Sunday night into Monday.
