Tracking sweltering heat ahead of a late week cooldown

TODAY: Monday is another hot day, potentially warmer than on Monday. Mostly sunny skies are expected, allowing for temperatures in the 90s alongside dewpoints in the 70s. This humidity will make for feels like temperatures in the 100-105 degree range.

TONIGHT: Another warm and humid night will make it tough to cool down, with temperatures not cooling into the 70s until after midnight.

EXTENDED: Another sweltering day is expected on Tuesday with nearly identical temperatures and heat indexes through the morning; these should moderate through the day. A cold front will work in during the morning hours, slowly pulling drier and cooler air into the region. At noon, we may still have heat indexes in the upper 90s, but with dew points potentially falling even further through the afternoon, we may actually feel cooler by 5 p.m. This cold front may bring rain to those north of I-70, but confidence in this is low as the lift is weak along the front in Mid-Missouri. Dry and mild weather is anticipated on Wednesday, but rain chances return Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with the greatest chances on Friday. Temperatures are expected to fall into the "cooler than average" territory late this week, with highs in the low 80s on Wednesday and Thursday, and 70s possible on Friday.
