Tracking more rain chances after a dry couple of days

TODAY: Wednesday is mostly dry after some morning showers south of I-70. These should clear south of I-44 by 10 a.m. Temperatures are forecast in the 60s again this afternoon, with north winds forecast. Partly cloudy skies develop by mid-morning along and north of I-70, but clouds may linger in the south much of the day.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the 50s shortly after sunset. Dry weather remains, despite lingering clouds.

EXTENDED: Thursday is mostly dry but also mostly cloudy. A few showers are possible on Thursday. A mostly gray and cool day brings highs in the 60s. A more widespread chance for showers and weak thunderstorms comes on Friday. Another half inch to an inch of rain may be possible on Friday alone. Drier weather returns on Saturday, but Friday's rain will come along with a warm front that brings more warmth and moisture. This returns highs to the 70s-80s and brings in a chance for afternoon thunderstorms. Much of Saturday looks dry, and so does Memorial Day weekend as a whole. We will have a low chance of these afternoon storms each day through Monday, with the best chances south of I-70 to the Lake of the Ozarks and I-44. Drier weather is anticipated in northern communities.
