Tracking a wet Monday with chances for strong storms

TODAY: Monday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. For the latest, read the online Weather Alert Day Blog. Morning thunderstorms are likely to remain weak, but isolated severe impacts are possible this morning into the early afternoon. The greatest concern may be flooding, as steady moderate to heavy rain moves in through the first half of the day. This morning's round of scattered thunderstorms will leave us cool through the morning, but moisture and warmth will try to rebuild across mid-Missouri this afternoon and evening. High temperatures are forecast near 80, with most of the day in the 70s.

TONIGHT: Drier weather is expected this evening, but storms are likely to return tonight. A low severe threat may also accompany these storms, but little storm energy may be left for storms to utilize after daytime showers and storms on Monday. This will largely depend on coverage throughout the day.

EXTENDED: Showers and storms will likely linger overnight into Tuesday morning, before exiting, leaving us mostly dry through Tuesday with highs in the 70s. Wednesday is cool and dry, with highs in the 60s. Low rain chances return at the end of the week, with thunderstorms possible, but severe weather is unlikely. Highs return to the 70s late this week, and to the 80s this weekend.
