Tracking severe storms on Monday with quieter weather ahead

TODAY: Monday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. For the latest details, read our online ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day Blog. Storms this morning will be capable of severe weather. Storms will work in from the west, potentially as soon as 5-6 a.m., before spreading east with time. Areas north of HWY 50 will have a chance at morning storms, but rain is better in coverage north of I-70, where severe weather is most likely in the morning. There will be a second round of storm chances in the afternoon. Development in the afternoon would carry a greater severe risk. High temperatures are expected in the upper 70s to near 80.

TONIGHT: The severe storm threat will include the early evening, but wrap up around 7 p.m. Weather will be quiet with partly cloudy skies as temperatures fall behind the front. Lows fall into the 40s on Tuesday morning.

EXTENDED: Tuesday starts with mostly cloudy skies before chances for showers and weak thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon and evening. Highs reach near 70 on Tuesday. Highs are expected in the 60s Wednesday through Friday alongside sunny skies.
