Tracking the return of a stormy pattern

TODAY: Wednesday is another warm and dry day. A few extra clouds will be present this morning as they move in from the southwest. These clouds are low and dense, making some overcast, but likely leaving a sunrise visible to the east until clouds spread east of their location. With time, these clouds will mix out, but we'll have to wait until midday or the early afternoon. High temperatures are expected in the mid-70s with a light south wind.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the low 70s by sunset, and into the 60s through the early overnight hours, much like yesterday. Lows are in the upper 50s to 60 on Thursday morning.

EXTENDED: Thursday is warm, with highs nearing 80 under partly cloudy skies. Thunderstorms develop west of Kansas City on Thursday afternoon before spreading east. These are expected to weaken as they move toward mid-Missouri. They may still be strong to severe in our western and central counties, but confidence is low. If severe weather is still a threat, our most likely impact will be wind. Friday morning may start with some remnant showers and thunderstorms, but much of the second half of the day looks dry. That dry time sticks around Saturday, but rain chances return Sunday and Monday.
