Tracking warmer air and more rain chances

TODAY: Wednesday is a notably warmer day, with sunshine and 70s forecast. Winds are from the south and breezy, sustained near 20 mph and gusting to 30+ mph at times. With low relative humidity late this morning and through the afternoon, burning may be dangerous and is discouraged.

TONIGHT: Temperatures remain warm tonight with south winds keeping lows in the 50s for most.

EXTENDED: An approaching trough of low pressure to our west will keep warm south winds in play for Thursday, driving temperatures into the 70s again under partly cloudy and mostly dry skies. Clouds will increase in the evening, leading to rain and thunderstorm chances with time in the evening. No severe weather is expected, but rain chances continue to build into Friday morning. A cold front will pass through the region overnight Thursday into Friday, leaving us largely north of the front on Friday. Cooler air and rain chances are expected. Highs in the 60s on Friday will be followed by a quick return to the 70s over the weekend as the front lifts back north as a warm front. This will reintroduce thunderstorm chances both Saturday and Sunday, but dry time is likely both days. A deeper and stronger upper-level wave approaches early next week, raising potential for stronger thunderstorms on Monday and/or Tuesday.
