Tracking snow across northern Missouri tonight, chilly Tuesday

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-upper 30s. Snow showers possible across far northern Missouri, especially along and north of Highway 36. Up to 1" of accumulation is possible in these areas.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy with highs in the mid-50s.

EXTENDED: Tonight, a clipper system moves in from the northwest with enough forcing for precipitation to develop in a narrow band stretching from the Iowa border to about Highway 36. Those in this zone may see high snowfall rates for a couple hours overnight, with about 1/2" to 1" along and north of that corridor by dawn. Those farther south won't see much precipitation, but temperatures will cool enough to threaten sensitive plants. Tuesday is chillier with highs in the 50s, but a warm front lifts across the region on Wednesday, shifting winds to the south and brings temperatures back into the 70s. A front stalls across the region between Wednesday and Thursday, increasing rain and thunderstorm chances through the weekend. Severe weather chances are looking low at this time, but thunder is possible from Thursday on into the weekend. Rain amounts will range from 1-2.5" over the next 7 days. The pattern looks a little more conducive to potential severe threats early next week, but there's a lot of time for things to shift and details to pin down over the coming days.
