Tracking dry time ahead of more rain chances at the end of the week

TODAY: Monday is a bright and mild day, with air temperatures this afternoon expected to be slightly cooler than average. A cold front will bring north winds in through the morning, with few clouds arriving through the day. We expect mostly sunny skies through the day.

TONIGHT: Overnight, clouds will thicken. Some light rain and snow showers will be possible in Macon and Monroe counties, as a narrow band of precipitation forms after midnight. Minimal precipitation accumulation is expected here, and the rest of the region is expected to remain dry. Temperatures are cold enough to allow frost to form across the northern half of the region early Tuesday.

EXTENDED: Highs are chilly on Tuesday, landing in the 50s for most under partly cloudy skies and easterly winds. Southerly winds will drive a warm-up into the 70s on Wednesday afternoon. Dry weather is likely through this stretch, but a more active pattern returns Thursday, driving daily rain chances through the weekend. No particular day looks like a home-run washout at the moment, but several rain chances through this period could bring another inch or two of rain by Monday of next week.
