Tracking near record warmth ahead of thunderstorms Tuesday evening

TODAY: Monday is bright, breezy, and warm. Highs will challenge records this afternoon, as temperatures are forecast near 80°. Skies are mostly sunny, and winds are from the southwest, sustained near 15-20 mph by the afternoon, gusting to 30 mph periodically.

TONIGHT: It's a warm evening, in the mid-70s through the dinner hour. Temperatures don't fall into the 60s until after sunset. We expect a warm start on Tuesday morning, near 60 at sunrise.

EXTENDED: Tuesday's warm start will lead to another exceptionally warm day with highs again near 80. This warmth and a boost in humidity will contribute to a thunderstorm chance by the late afternoon and early evening. Severe thunderstorms are likely in the region and all threats are possible. Tuesday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. We expect cooler and quieter weather the rest of the week. Dry conditions hold Thursday through Saturday, with highs forecast near 60 each day. Our next rain chance is a passing shower chance Sunday.
