Tracking a warm and active pattern through the week

TODAY: Tuesday will be slightly warmer, but exact temperatures will depend on how far north a warm front moves into the region. This has already brought showers and weak thunderstorms across the region, and will continue to do so through the day. Rain will be intermittent along and south of I-70 through the day, with more scattered, albeit light at times, north of I-70. Breaks from precipitation will be longer with more dry time south of I-70, but spotty shower and storm chances remain. Highs south of HWY 50 will have potential to reach the 60s, but we stand to be cooler between Columbia and Jefferson City. This will be the highest uncertainty zone as it's about where the warm front settles. Highs may range from the upper 40s to mid-50s in this range. Highs are more likely in the 40s near and north of HWY 24.

TONIGHT: A bit of a lull in rain will come in the south this afternoon, but scattered showers and weak storms resurge into the overnight hours. Temperatures will remain relatively steady through the overnight areawide.

EXTENDED: Rain continues through the morning, as the center of low pressure moves through the region. The warm front may not lift much further north. This will keep us a bit cooler and will likely push a chance for severe storms just outside of mid-Missouri. Showers and storms are widespread through the morning to early evening on Wednesday, but we're likely on the cooler side of this system. Warmer air and stronger storms are more likely southeast of I-44. Thursday will be mostly dry, and with some sunshine and south winds, temperatures may have a chance at 65-70°. South flow builds into Friday south of a warm front. This will place all of mid-Missouri in the warm sector of our next approaching low. This may bring a chance for morning showers and storms, and a late-night chance for storms with dry time in between. Highs may reach well into the 70s during the afternoon. We may have to watch for a chance for strong storms late Friday evening.
