Tracking a spring-like pattern with plentiful warm air and thunderstorm chances
TODAY: Monday starts with cold showers in the south, but rain will gradually come to an end through the first half of the morning, drying up by noon. Clouds remain through the day, and high temperatures settle in the mid-40s with light winds from the east.
TONIGHT: Light showers may return just before sunrise, moving in from the south to the north. Temperatures remain mild, near 40 through sunrise.
EXTENDED: A warm front moving into the region will drive this band of showers and possible thunderstorms northward through the day. It won't rain all day, as drier weather moves in south of the rain band, allowing for warmer temperatures. Tuesday's highs will likely be wide-ranging, from the 40s to the 60s, north to south. The broader area of low pressure moves in on Wednesday, lifting the warm front northward. This generally brings warmer air, with a better chance of most areas reaching the 60s, but scattered thunderstorms are also more likely throughout the day. We may catch a break in the rain on Thursday, leaving highs forecast near 70 with mostly dry conditions after a morning shower chance. Rain looks to be back in the picture early Friday morning, as another warm front lifts in. The attendant cold front on Friday likely moves in late in the day into the overnight, bringing another chance for storms. Friday will likely have dry time, and may be the warmest day in the forecast. The region stands to see as much as two inches of rain over the next seven days. Temperatures generally remain warm through this stretch of spring-like weather.
