Tracking near-record highs and gusty winds Tuesday
TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-upper 40s.
TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy, warm, and breezy with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Chance of a few showers and storms by evening.
EXTENDED: Tonight will be cloudier as stratus has already tried to move into the area. Lows fall into the 40s. Tomorrow will be windy and warm with continued clouds, but highs reach the lower 70s, getting us near record highs. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph. A boundary moves through the area Tuesday night, perhaps bringing a few showers or storms to areas north of I-70, but the chance is limited due to dry air in place. Severe weather isn't expected. On Wednesday, we'll have a drier air mass in place with more sunshine, pushing highs near 70 again. Thursday will be an interesting day with a spring like setup. We'll see a low pressure system sliding by to our north, with a warm front lifting north of us early in the day. That will allow temperatures to rise into the upper 60s to around 70 again, and perhaps bring a few showers or storms ahead of a cold front. Ingredients for more organized storms look more favorable to our east from about St. Louis into southern Illinois and Ohio Valley. Behind the cold front, we drop back into the 40s for highs on Friday and Saturday, with lows dropping below freezing. Another system moves through the region between Friday and Saturday, bringing the chance for rain and even someiu light wet snow depending on the timing. However, there's not a ton of moisture with that system, so major impacts are not expected after the warm week we've had.Â
