Tracking more cold and dry weather into the weekend
TODAY: Wednesday deals a colder morning, but a warmer afternoon. High pressure nearby brings clear, calm conditions, promoting temperatures in the single digits, but as it moves away, south winds fill in and warm us to near 30°.
TONIGHT: After a sunny one, more clouds return overnight. Temperatures don't cool quite as fast, leaving a low near 10° Thursday morning.
EXTENDED: Dry conditions remain on Thursday, but clouds overspread the region. This and a switch to northerly winds will keep afternoon temperatures near 20°. Friday is likely partly cloudy as we switch back to more sunshine into the weekend, but it's also cold. Friday's low near 0°, and high near 15° mark the return of colder air. The coldest window looks like Friday night through Saturday morning. Lows are likely to reach subzero, with wind chills as cold as -15°, prompting an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. A slow warm-up begins Sunday and continues into the middle of next week. Precipitation looks unlikely until the middle of next week.
