Tracking an active week that starts warm and ends cold

TODAY: Tuesday is another warm day, with partly cloudy skies and dry conditions. We expect winds to become increasingly from the west behind a weak cold front this morning. Some fog has developed in the northwest, which is expected to lift and spread southeast in the form of low clouds through the morning. This will clear out in the afternoon, leading to more sunshine.

TONIGHT: Winds return from the south overnight. Some fog may develop in the northeast as clouds clear. Temperatures fall to near freezing.

EXTENDED: Mostly sunny skies and south winds will drive warmth into the low 60s by Wednesday afternoon, potentially making Wednesday the warmest this week. Clouds increase late in the day, ahead of more rain in the forecast. The first of two systems will move in Thursday, with a chance for scattered thunderstorms early in the day. Thunderstorms will become scattered rainfall through the day, Thursday. This system will push northeast, leaving us drier on Friday, yet still with a chance for showers. A second system will approach Friday night into Saturday, keeping clouds around. Precipitation may be more sparse with this second system, but as it brings in cooler air on its heels, we'll have a chance for rain mixing to snow as it passes. We've added a small chance for a wintry mix Saturday morning ahead of drier weather later in the day. Either way, cooler air is very likely, as highs are forecast in the 50s Thursday and Friday, and near 40° Saturday and Sunday under dry skies. Rainfall may total a half inch to one inch in spots from Thursday's system.
