Tracking a warm up next week
TONIGHT: Saturday night remains clear early on, but low clouds drift in along and north of I-70 overnight. Temperatures under these clouds may remain near 30°, but most will fall into the mid-20s making for a cold start Sunday morning.
TOMORROW: Sunday will start chilly, but end mild. A light south wind through the day will be enough to bring highs to the low 40s despite increasing clouds through the day.
EXTENDED: Monday is notably warmer as we expect continued south flow and more sunshine to lift afternoon temperatures into the 60s at least as far north as HWY 50, but likely near I-70 as well. Tuesday and Wednesday will be marked by variable winds amid a shift in direction or two, but but continued warm air as highs remain forecast in the upper 50s to near 60. A few extra clouds will be present, but these are overall bright days compared to Thursday, when we're at least overcast. The potential for rain on Thursday will overshadow that, however, as we could see areawide rain by noon. Still, there are deep differences in the timing of not only rain, but the system that brings the rain itself in the data. We expect an overall chance for rain that reaches a probability of about 60% in the 48-hour window from Thursday through Friday, but details are fuzzy on exactly when it rains or how much we can expect. Either way, it's looking likely that a rain event late next week will find its way into mid-Missouri and bring a cooldown with it. We are forecasting A warm start on Thrusday, with highs in the upper 50s. Friday looks cooler, near 50° at the warmest, before a drop to more typical temperatures on Saturday brings a return to the 40s.
