Tracking a rain chance alongside a big drop in temperatures on Sunday

FRIDAY: Morning fog will again be a concern through mid-morning, especially north of I-70. Then, mostly to partly cloudy skies are expected through the day, with the thickest clouds north of I-70 and a chance for broken skies to the south. Temperatures will again span a range from 60s/70s near the Lake of the Ozarks, to 50s/60s near Macon. Winds will be light from the north.

TONIGHT: Low clouds take over the skies again tonight, as a wind shift gradually returns us to south winds. We'll be cloudy and mild with temperatures in the 40s at sunrise Saturday.

EXTENDED: Saturday will be cloudy and warm, with south winds again returning our forecast to near 70 in Columbia. Temperatures may range from 60s to mid-70s from north to south. Sunday brings our biggest change since the mild pattern started. A strong cold front will bring widespread rain on Sunday with a chance at as much as a quarter to a half inch of rain across the region before a rapid cooldown. Temperatures are likely to start in the 60s and fall to the 40s by 3 p.m. Dry and seasonably normal to cool air is expected next week.
