Tracking a wide range of warmth potential for Christmas Day

TODAY: Some fog will be possible again early this morning. Wednesday is expected to be another warm day, this time in the upper 60s by the afternoon. Skies are overcast, but south winds will increase through the afternoon, lifting temperatures this afternoon. This comes as a warm front lifts north through the day.

TONIGHT: Warmth lingers overnight, keeping temperatures in the 40s and 50s, but the warm front that lifts north will drop south overnight and into Thursday. The question that is still to be answered is how far.

EXTENDED: Where the boundary ends up on Christmas Day will be a big factor in what temperatures look like by the afternoon. Temperature uncertainty is high, with potential for highs near 70 to low 50s still a possibility. The problem is that the boundary will have a sharp change in temperatures across it. This will be a big change in temperatures across a short distance. meaning some may see near record warmth, an and some may just be warmer than average. Either way, it's likely we stay warmer than average for Christmas. Friday and Saturday are expected to remain mild, as the boundary remains near to just north of the region. A stronger push of cold air comes on Sunday, to drop afternoon temperatures Sunday and Monday. Sunday afternoon may be in the 40s and 30s, while Monday might remain in the 20s to 30s all day.
