Tracking a warm up into a rain chance
TODAY: Tuesday is a warmer one, back above average temperatures by the afternoon. Highs are likely to be near 50 along I-70 while both warmer to the south and cooler to the north by about 5 degrees. We expect southwest winds around 10-15 mph.
TONIGHT: A weak cold front will die out as it arrives tonight, shifting winds for some for a short while, but leaving temperatures generally unaffected.
EXTENDED: Wednesday is similarly warm, as south winds pick up where they left off. This will drive temperatures back into the 50s once more. This warm pattern leads us into another cold front, this time one that will bring chances for rain. Up to a quarter of an inch of rain will be possible as the chance for scattered showers is growing in the forecast for Thursday. Behind the cold front, temperatures will drop. High temperatures are expected with the rain in the morning, before drier and cooler conditions return to leave us dry and in the 40s during the afternoon. Winds also look blustery on Thursday. Northwest winds may be sustained upwards of 20 mph at times, with gusts to 30+. At coldest, we drop into the teens on Friday morning. The final weekend before Christmas looks somewhat uncertain temperature wise, with large spreads in temperature possibilities. Precipitation chances are low, and current expectations are for mild temperatures in the 40s to 50s over the weekend and into next week.
