Tracking a cold Thanksgiving and a chance for snow this weekend

TODAY: Thursday is a chilly but dry day across the region. This thanksgiving is a bit cooler than we'd typically expect in late November, with highs in the upper 30s compared to our average of 50°. We expect a light breeze from the northwest around 5-10 mph to institute enough of a wind chill to have us feeling like the 20s to mid-30s through the day.

TONIGHT: After the dinner hour, temperatures fall below freezing with calming winds. Few fair weather clouds stream in from the west.

EXTENDED: Partly cloudy skies are forecast for another cold day on Friday. Temperatures climb from the low 20s to the upper 30s by the afternoon. Winds gradually turn from the south as clouds increase in our skies. A warm front lifts across the region overnight, yielding snow and rain across the region through Saturday morning. Saturday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day. For the latest, click here. After a chance for accumulating snow for some, we expect drier and cooler conditions on Sunday. Highs may not escape the 20s. We'll have a chance for snow on Monday, and some cold air that continues next week, but confidence is low in impactful weather beyond Saturday in this forecast. Check back for updates.
