Tracking rain chances on both sides of a dry weekend and a Thanksgiving cooldown
TODAY: Friday is a soaker, with rain expected from morning through the evening in some capacity, however the most widespread chances come this morning through noon. By the noon hour, the main lift along the warm front will weaken and shift east, leaving spottier coverage and lighter rain through the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will be a mixed bag, with potential for high 40s through the day near HWY 36, 50s this afternoon near I-70, and 60s possible along and south of HWY 50. Winds will be variable. Some could record an inch or more of rain today. A new area in this forecast that looks to have a chance at this will be a band near I-70, as lift is forecast to be somewhat strong along the warm front as it lifts in.
TONIGHT: Rain chances remain through about 3 a.m., but Saturday starts dry, with clearing skies. Temperatures fall to the low 40s by sunrise.
EXTENDED: Clouds clear around sunrise along and north of I-70, with clouds hanging on a bit longer in the south. Overall, a brighter day is expected as highs return to the mid-50s. Winds are from the north in the morning, becoming westerly by the afternoon. Sunday still looks dry, and warmer with more south wind. Clouds increase Sunday afternoon ahead of rain chances before sunrise on Monday in the west. Rain chances fill in Monday, bringing chance at another quarter of an inch of rain. After reaching low 60s Sunday, Monday is a return to 50s. Drier weather returns by the middle of next week, but a notable cooldown follows. Tuesday's highs are forecast in the 50s, while temperatures likely don't climb out of the 40s for Wednesday and Thanksgiving day.
