Tracking a warm and dry week ahead

TODAY: Partly cloudy skies are expected today as we start with high clouds overspreading the region. This keeps us mostly cloudy through the lunch hour, but sunshine will likely peak through from time to time, with more sunshine expected this afternoon. At the surface, winds from the southwest 10-20 mph sustained and gusting up to 35 mph at times. This will support a fire risk, so burning is discouraged today.

TONIGHT: Overnight, we remain above freezing, with continued south winds. Skies are clear at sunrise, and temperatures are in the mid-30s.

EXTENDED: Winds are relaxing, and slowly shifting from the west Wednesday morning. Despite this, we expect sunshine and highs in the 60s Wednesday. We continue the warm up with dry and generally bright skies the rest of the week. Highs reach 60s Thursday, and 70s Friday and Saturday. Oddly enough, the last home game of the season at Faurot is looking like it might be the nicest. Highs on Saturday are now expected in the 70s. Originally, the forecast looked to bring rain chances by Saturday evening, but key changes in the upper pattern is starving moisture from this system, leaving us likely dry with low rain chances Saturday night. Temperatures should remain mild, in the 60s for much of the game. A cold front is likely to pass sometime between Saturday evening and Sunday morning, but recent trends are showing a mostly dry passage. Rain chances should grow into Sunday and Monday, but remain low as confidence in the rain forecast is low at this point thanks to uncertainties in the pattern.
