Tracking the last of arctic air ahead of a week of thawing

TODAY: Monday is another cold one, as we put off warmth until Tuesday. Temperatures starting in the 20s will climb to 40 at most, but many are expected to remain in the 30s for the entire afternoon. With a light northwest wind, we feel like 20-30s through the warmest part of the day. Skies remain mostly sunny.

TONIGHT: Winds turn from the southwest early overnight, and clouds fill our skies by sunrise. Temperatures still fall into the 20s by sunrise.

EXTENDED: South winds continue into the afternoon on Tuesday, driving high temperatures back into the 50s under partly cloudy skies. Upper level warming and sunshine will drive highs into the 60s by Wednesday afternoon, despite the return of a north breeze. This warming trend continues into the second half of the week, amplified by south winds ahead of a deepening trough moving in this weekend. We'll lift temperatures into the 70s Friday and Saturday before rain chances return Saturday evening. Rain, if not thunderstorms will be possible Saturday night into Sunday.
