Tracking a dramatic drop in temperatures tonight

TONIGHT: Few sprinkles and light showers will be possible this afternoon and evening, but unlikely for most. A bigger impact will be a rapid cooldown. We expect winds to switch from the northwest between 4-8 p.m. from west to east. This cooldown will rapidly onset on the backs of these northwest winds. Highs near 60 will fall to near 40° by midnight. Skies likely remain overcast, slowing our cooldown.

TOMORROW: Sunday morning, we'll start in the low 30s. If we recover, temperatures only climb a few degrees thanks to overcast skies and gusty northwest winds. Temperatures hang in the 30s all day, and wind chills are likely in the 20s all day.

EXTENDED: Monday morning's temperature starts in the low 20s. Winds are still from the northwest around 5-10 mph early Monday, making us feel like 18-20°. Mostly sunny skies and a late day return to southwest winds won't be enough to warm us much past 40° if at all. Tuesday brings a bigger warmup, back into the upper 50s. Windy and dry conditions could contribute to a fire risk Tuesday. Warmer air and sunshine returns more pleasant fall weather to the region, with highs in the 60s Wednesday through Friday.
