Tracking cool & crisp mornings ahead of another rain chance this weekend

TODAY: As high pressure slides into the region today, we're nearly frosty at daybreak. This will give way to 60s over the course of the day. We're less windy today; sustained from the west at 10-15 mph, gusting to 20 mph at most. Skies remain sunny.

TONIGHT: Clear skies drop us quickly after sunset. At 7 p.m. we're in the 50s. We'll be in the 40s by 10 p.m. Expect more widespread upper 30s Thursday morning, putting more at risk of frost. Not all will be frosty, but in low lying areas protected from a light north breeze we expect the coolest air to sink near the surface.

EXTENDED: Skies are sunny at daybreak on Thursday, and remain that way until the evening, when high clouds work in from the west. Thursday is bright and mild, with highs again in the mid-60s. This will precede rain chances on Friday, when rain chances increase, mostly in the south and west. Clouds may blanket most of the region, but rain chances will wane quickly to the north and east, as this rain chances is rooted in a low pressure system that sits to our southwest. Rain chances increase Friday night into Saturday morning as the low level winds ahead of the low intensify. Exact details are still uncertain, but as the system lumbers eastward, we may see a repeat situation on Saturday. A lull in rain chances may come during midday to the afternoon, before another heightening of rain chances that evening as low level winds increase. In both cases, rain chances are best in the south as the system struggles to lift north. Some light rain may linger Sunday morning, but generally drier conditions are forecast for Sunday and Monday. This is short lived, though, as a cold front returns Monday night into Tuesday morning. This brings our next chance for widespread rainfall. Some may see as much as an inch of rain through these next two events, but again, the likelihood of these amounts are greatest south of HWY 50, and west of HWY 54.
