Tracking a stout north breeze and the cooldown it brings

TODAY: Tuesday will be windy and cool. A jacket might be handy all day, as sustained winds around 20-25 mph from the northwest will gust up to 30-40 mph at times. This will pull in cool northern air to keep us in the upper 50s to low 60s this afternoon. Sunshine will be dominant today, so in the sun you'll feel warmer today. Low humidity values on this dry and sunny day will combine with breezy conditions to create elevated fire risk. Burning is discouraged today.

TONIGHT: Winds will relax tonight. Under clear skies, that will bring temperatures into the 40s quickly after sunset, and into the 30s for some, if not most Wednesday morning. Frost will be possible for some in low lying areas shielded from a west breeze.

EXTENDED: Wednesday's winds will be light and generally westerly. This and more sunshine will keep us a bit warmer, with most reaching the mid-60s. Thursday is about the same, but some clouds are possible late in the afternoon, as a low deepens to our southwest. This low will pass south of us Friday into Saturday, bringing rain chances both days, but mostly south of I-70. The low will weaken and get drawn northeast, keeping rain in the forecast through Sunday morning. Confidence is low in exact timing of rain chances over the weekend, but chances for wet weather are greatest Friday and Saturday, with generally drier weather expected for Sunday. Temperatures are likely in the 50s and 60s Friday and Saturday, but with more dry time expected Sunday, we should see temperatures rebound into the 60s by the afternoon. A large trough arrives sometime Monday. While data seems to be in agreement on this bringing a decent rain chance, further details remain fuzzy, but it could send us into another cooldown early next week.
