Tracking clouds and showers to kick off the week
TODAY: Monday kicks off with some light showers that will be around until the afternoon when they begin to dry up. Light rain off and on through much of the day will keep temperatures in the mid-70s this afternoon. Rain totals could climb as high as a tenth or two of an inch, but with the scattered nature of shower coverage, totals are likely less for many. Winds will be variable, as showers are driven by a stationary front that drapes across the region through the day.
TONIGHT: The surface front weakens by the evening, leaving us cloudy but drier overnight. Temperatures only fall into the 60s by sunrise Tuesday.
EXTENDED: Clouds linger, but rain is pushed north in response to upper level high pressure building in. Rain will be a constant just to our northwest as an upper trough takes shape over the upper plains. This will likely not impact us through the week. Owing to the upper ridge building in from Texas and the gulf states, we'll have sunshine and highs in the 80s from Wednesday through Friday. This gives way Friday night, however, as a cold front is forecast to come crashing through overnight into Saturday. This has scattered thunderstorms in the forecast Friday night into Saturday morning. This front is also poised to bring a cooldown by the end of the weekend. Highs on Saturday are in the mid-70s after morning rain, but cooler air could take highs into the low 70s/upper 60s by Sunday afternoon.
