Tracking a dry and hot weekend

TODAY: Calling today "hot" would be fair, as average highs this time of year are in the low 80s yet today's expected high is in the low 90s. We'll have mostly sunny skies and a light south wind becoming variable at times. Humidity will be low, with dew points in the low 60s at most.

TONIGHT: Skies are mostly clear to partly cloudy overnight. Temperatures remain warm, in the 70s after sunset, but bottoming out in the mid-60s through sunrise.

EXTENDED: Friday is warmer yet, a trend that continues through the weekend. Mid-90s are likely Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A spot shower or storm is possible Sunday and Monday evenings, but overall, rain chances are low and most will stay dry. Even where we see rain, little measurable rain is expected. Our drought continues, and likely expands with the latest map, which we'll have on air at 9 AM on ABC 17 News. Above average temperatures and below average precipitation are the expectations through next week.
