Tracking a hot Tuesday with slow relief trickling in

TODAY: Tuesday is another hot day, but likely a few degrees cooler than Monday in most places. Highs in the low 90s feel more like 100-103 this afternoon. A cold front is slowly moving north to south across the region, and will have a slight impact on heat indexes today. Storms will be confined along and south of the front this afternoon, likely keeping rain chances confined to the Lake of the Ozarks and I-44, outside of a rouge shower or storm along the front earlier in the day. The strongest storms could be capable of damaging winds, but this is a very isolated threat.

TONIGHT: Temperatures fall into the low 70s overnight, leaving one more warm night through Wednesday morning. Most rain will wrap up by sunrise.

EXTENDED: Wednesday will be cooler and drier feeling, with highs in the 80s feeling like low 90s. Mostly sunny skies will be the expectation Thursday through Saturday, but at some point on Saturday, a second cold front is forecast to move into the region, bringing a better chance at clouds. This will also bring a cooler airmass into the region. After highs in the mid-80s Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, low 80s and 70s are expected Sunday into Monday. Alongside lower dew points, the weekend may even feel crisp by Sunday morning. This trend may linger into the first part of the next week, keeping Monday and possibly Tuesday on the cool side.
