Tracking a rainy start to a cooler day, ahead of our next heat wave

TODAY: Thursday brings scattered showers and storms through the morning, and possibly again in the afternoon. We'll have cooler high temperatures as a result, with highs in the low 80s. Plenty of dry time is expected, especially from late morning to early afternoon. Morning rain will clear by midday, but may redevelop in the late afternoon in the south. Some in the south will have a warmer day than many in the north. Highs may still reach 90s near the Lake of the Ozarks and Rolla. Feels like temperatures in the most extreme cases may reach upper 90s to near 100 again in the south.

TONIGHT: We should have dry weather at the Boone County fair as rain chances will fall for most as rain pushes southeast tonight. The cold front will begin to lift back north overnight. This could bring rain chances by Friday morning. Temperatures remain near 70 overnight.

EXTENDED: Isolated to scattered rain chances return Friday, especially in the afternoon. We'll likely be warmer than Thursday, with highs forecast in the mid-80s on Friday. The mild temperatures are mostly brought on by rain and clouds. As the warm front lifts north, we'll see more sunshine over the weekend. This puts temperatures back in the 90s and heat indices in the 100s, possibly reaching 105.
