Tracking high heat indices and storm chances

TODAY: Heat ramps up today, with temperatures in the mid 90s, but heat indices reaching near 105 in some areas. Areas to our north will experience some rainfall, but majority of the storms are expected to reach central Missouri early tomorrow morning.

TONIGHT: Storms are expect to move in late tonight and early tomorrow morning ahead of a cold front. While we are in a marginal risk, these storms are not expected to be too severe thanks to weak shear.

EXTENDED: The cold front from overnight storms will help to cool us off just a tad, highs on Thursday are noticeably cooler, in the low 80s. However, over the next week temperatures will begin to rise once we hit the weekend. Opportunity for thunderstorms remain into Friday, with lower chances of storms into the weekend. Clouds will persist into the weekend, which might help to cool us off as those heat indices look to begin their climb again. Heat will be the main concern as we enter into next week.
