Drought monitor updates
Things are looking a lot better across much of Mid-Missouri in terms of drought conditions. The latest drought monitor came out Thursday morning.

When taking a look at the percent of normal the last 30 days, most of the region remains well above average in terms of rainfall totals with the exception of northwestern portions of the region. Some areas highlighted with this are Saline county and Macon county.

When looking at the past year, the results look fairly similar. A large portion of the I-70 corridor and off to the southeast look wetter than average, while areas to the north still track a little bit of drought.

The good news in the latest drought monitor in comparison from the last one just last Thursday shows that we've alleviated some of that drought back from Northwestern portions of the region.

This June's drought monitor shows we're not anywhere close to where we were just a few short years ago back in 2023 where much of Mid-Missouri was covered in drought, including some extreme drought across much of the area.

The good news is, we're not anywhere close to that and things are going to be looking even better as we head into the extended outlook 6-10 days away. Eastern portions of the country, including in Mid-Missouri, are looking wetter than average, even into the extended precipitation outlook.
