Tracking scattered rain with some dry time Memorial Day Weekend
TODAY: Saturday will start with rain chances focused in the southwest near the Lake of the Ozarks and Truman Lake. Showers will drift as far north as I-70 and the Missouri River in the west, before tapering off in the afternoon. Generally dry conditions are expected through the afternoon and into the early evening, before more rain chances arrive late tonight. Highs are forecast in the 60s. Some in the north, where we stay drier, will have a chance at 70.
TONIGHT: We will have low rain chances returning overnight, that continue into Sunday. Clouds keep temperatures in the 50s overnight.
EXTENDED: Shower chances continue into Sunday, with coverage again greatest in the south. Chances for rain will continue off and on through Sunday. Some dry time will come, but there won't be a clear and large window of dry time, mostly intermittent breaks through the day. Rain will generally be light across most of the region, leaving less than an inch for most north of the Lake of the Ozarks. Some may struggle to get to a quarter inch, especially in the north. Some in the south may also see more than an inch to near 2 inches of rain. The lake area is where thunderstorms are more likely, creating more efficient rain producing cells. Temperatures remain in the 60s for highs again on Sunday. This cool air sticks around on Monday and Tuesday as we deal with more rain chances. This rain looks light, and with dry time sprinkled in, but we'll hold off on sunshine in the forecast until the later half of next week with the jet stream overhead bringing a steady supply of active weather.
