Tracking overnight strong to severe storms through Tuesday morning

TODAY: Monday is an ABC17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day for potential for storms this evening and into Tuesday morning. For the more detail, read our blog. Overall, Monday will be a dry and warm day, with highs in the mid-80s. This will be approaching our average high temperatures we expect during the hottest days of summer. We'll be partly cloudy through the day, with a wind sustained near 15-20 mph, gusting up to 30 mph at times.

TONIGHT: Likely after midnight, we'll have a window for storms developing along the cold front near Kansas City. This is where we have our best chance at the first storms, and they will likely arrive around 1-3 a.m. in our western most counties, before spreading across the region through the early morning. This will bring a chance for wind and hail primarily. This is our most likely scenario, and best chance at storms. Fortunately, this would be the best case scenario, and help us avoid what would be more potent storms if they were to develop during Monday afternoon.

EXTENDED: We will have several more rain chances ahead, after Tuesday's scattered showers and storms. Tuesday's severe threat will wane into the morning, leaving us with scattered rain and thunder. Highs will suffer for this, and only reach mid-60s. Wednesday brings another push of rain, with highs in the low 70s. Some thunder and lighting will come of this, but severe weather is not anticipated. The rain should wrap up on Thursday, thanks to a cold front. Highs linger in the 70s through the weekend, with drier weather expected Friday through Sunday.
