WATCH: Firefighters rescue dog from icy Boonville pond

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Firefighters in Boonville rescued a pooch who had fallen through thin ice on a pond Thursday.

According to a Cooper County Fire Protection District news release, the rescue happened at about 1:30 p.m. The dog, named Boone, had walked onto the ice and fallen away from the bank.

Firefighters from the Cooper County district and Boonville were needed to rescue Boone, who appeared tired but otherwise unharmed, the release says. The rescue took less than 20 minutes and no firefighters were hurt.

Boone was turned over to his owner.
