Tracking fog, drizzle, and an end to showers
TODAY: Friday is starting very dreary with widespread fog and drizzle limiting visibilities across the region this morning. Fog may linger through 9 a.m. Actual rainfall will be limited today, as the last round will move from the Kansas City region this morning into mid-Missouri through midday. This band of rainfall is forecast to weaken as it moves in, limiting rainfall. Showers will come to an end by the late afternoon. Highs reach mid-to-high 40s.
TONIGHT: Northwest winds will fill the region with cooler and drier air overnight, clearing skies, but also dropping temperatures to near freezing by Saturday morning.
EXTENDED: Saturday morning will be chilly, but south winds warm us into the 50s by Saturday afternoon under partly cloudy skies. Increased southerly flow on Sunday should warm us back into the 60s under more partly cloudy skies. A cold front will drop into the region from the north Monday morning. This will likely have us cooler, but the question is how much cooler, as it appears to stall for a period. Highs are likely somewhere in the 50s Monday. What happens to the boundary after Monday is a big point of questions in the forecast. Probabilistic spread in data is huge for Tuesday, leaving the middle of next week a large question. Also a question, is precipitation chances. For now, we'll expect a chance for rain on Wednesday, with generally cooler conditions Tuesday through Thursday.
