Mizzou gymnastics competes in intrasquad exhibition
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou gymnastics team hosted the unofficial start to the 2025 campaign, on Wednesday, with the annual black and gold intrasquad exhibition at the Hearnes Center.

Team black ended up taking the win, scoring higher in three out of the four rotations. It was a solid day for head coach Shannon Welker's group as a whole, though, as eight routines earned a score of 9.900 or higher.
Out of the 50 scores taken in on Wednesday morning, the Tigers scored 9.8 or better on 27 of them, four of which came on the balance beam.
Graduate newcomer Lauren Macpherson brought home the all-around title in her first meet at the Hearnes Center. She finished with a 9.900 on the beam and a 9.850 on the vault, bars and floor for a total score of 39.450.
Veteran returner Amari Celestine scored the highest out of any of her teammates on the bars and floor routines. She also scored the highest in the entire meet with a 9.950 on the floor routine.
Redshirt senior Helen Hu made her much-anticipated return to the Hearnes, on Wednesday, after taking one year off backpacking through Europe and Asia. In her first collegiate competition since April of 2023, she posted a 9.900 on the beam.
Up next - Mizzou will open up the season with Beauty and the Beast, which is a simultaneous wrestling and gymnastics competition, on Jan. 3, 2025 at 6 p.m. at Mizzou Arena. The Tigers will compete against Ball State, Illinois State and SEMO during that meet.
